* At present I exist otherwise is an excerpt of Claude Cahun’s texts from the book “Cancelled Confessions, Or Disavowals”, translated by Susan de Muth.
During their residency at Onassis ONX/AiR, Antigoni explores an organic combination of their soft-sculptural practice with their cinematic and digital universe through a multi-material, multi-screen, and multi-reality experience. In this new work, moving image becomes embodied and fragmented within the sculptural space, while augmented reality is explored as a liminal portal across space-time. The softness of the installation generates a space to explore touch and its limitations, collective encounters, rest, and the relationship between body, gender, and technology.

Antigoni draws from their own queer archive of books, gathered through their ongoing Fluffy Library project, and activates them through digital performance re-enactments. During the residency, Antigoni engages with the photographs and texts of Claude Cahun, the genderqueer surrealist artist and writer of the early twentieth century, through ideas of transformation, fragmentation, and bodies in transition. Drawing from Cahun’s self-fashioning, fragmented identities, and resistance to fixed gender categories, Antigoni animates an avatar from their own body and creates a digital performance that approaches the queer archive not as something static, but as a living field of traces, gestures, voices, and unfinished histories that continue to resonate in the present.
